CEBU, Philippines - The Golden Haven Chess Tournament will start at 10 am today at the Golden Haven Park in Brgy. Binaliw, this city.
The tournament will feature two categories - kiddies for kids aged 14 years old and under and juniors for 20 years old and under.
The game format follows the five-round Swiss system with a time control of 30 to 40 minutes each player, depending on the number of participants.
Aside from trophies and medals, cash prizes will be given to the winners, with the champion taking home P1,000. The second will get P700, while the third placer will pocket P500. The fourth and fifth will receive P300 and P100, respectively.
Registration fee is pegged at P50 pet entry.
The organizers will provide transportation for the participants. One van will be served for the players from Metrobank parking lot in front of Talamban gym to the Golden Haven Park and back. Players can ride in shifts from 9 am to 9:45 am.
