Team NCR collects 18 trophies in Autocross tilt
CEBU, Philippines - Team No Care Racing once again stamped its class by grabbing a total of 18 trophies highlighted by five championship finish in the second leg of the Philippine Autocross Championship Series over the weekend at the South Road Properties (SRP).
It was a relative improvement for the NCR riders, who hauled only a dozen trophies during the inaugural leg a few months back.
Team NCR dominated the stock category with three first-place trophies, two coming from founding member Alan “Big Al” G. Choachuy in the novice A and C on board the Dewfoam motorsport Honda Jazz.
In his best showing by far in his racing career, Choachuy also placed second in the front wheel drive (Lancer EVo ZERO) followed by teammate Eric Canama ( Nissan Altima).
Dennis Corro topped the experienced stock A aside from winding up second in the sports car and experienced stock B and third in the real wheel drive and experienced stock C.
NCR’s top gun Jong King dominated the Subaru class and placed second in the all-wheel drive class and novice modified C, while Philip Khan “Lik-Lik” Lim topped the automatic class followed by Bobby Pangilinan.
The rest of the top performing NCR drivers were Anthony Khe (second in the Toyota class) and Eric Canama (third in the novice stock C).
SRP provided a fast-paced and challenging venue for the racers especially the road condition in which it was very dusty and the asphalt was rough. Most of the racers had a hard time in controlling their cars especially at the U-turn heading into the finish line.
But towards the end of race, DGL Motorsports and Team Kartzone battled fearlessly to record the fastest time of the day.
Derek Arculi of Team Kartzone held the fastest time for most of the day, but was finally overtaken by Team DGL’s Mato Tan and David Lim.
Jong King of Team NCR also fought gallantly for the fastest time driving and pushing his Subari to an almost perfect run except for an over steer in the last U-turn which cost him the title.
Team NCR is powered by Dewfoam Motorsports with its two Toyota MRS and its latest acquisition, the Baby ”J“ Honda Jazz which dominated the stock class. The rest of Team NCR corporate backers are Maxxis Tires. Mobil One, Dewfoam, DURABEND Pipes, Nodalos, Total Oil, DAJ Auto Repair Shop, Sunsport, Aldo/Onitsuka Servitech and JT Wheels. (THE FREEMAN)
