ANS nails final ticket in Treadtel bootfest

CEBU, Philippines - Reigning Milo Little Olympics national champion Abellana National School (ANS)-Pomeroy Football Club booked a semifinal ticket in the boys 17-under division of the Treadtel Cup 2010 yesterday at the Aboitiz Sportsfield in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City .

ANS-Pomeroy of Coach Francis Ramirez beat PAREF-Springdale, 1-0, to complete a 3-game elimination round sweep in bracket A.

On the other hand, the University of San Carlos fought to a 1-all draw with Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu. USC topped bracket B with two wins and one draw, while SHS-Ateneo de Cebu occupied the second spot with one win and two draws.

In the semis, ANS-Pomeroy will clash with SHS-Ateneo de Cebu, while USC faces PAREF Springdale.

In the distaff side, USC grabbed the girls 17-under tiara after blanking Giuseppe Football Club, 3-0.

Jessica Knight and Renee Songalia made the first two goals and Angeli Ruete executed the final kill.

The USC girls team of Gary Panagsagan is composed of varsity players and members of the San Roque Football Team.

The tournament serves as the team’s preparation for its title defense in the Mizuno Cup and the San Roque Football Festival tournaments this August.

In the boys 14 action, visiting Anthony’s Footbal Club of Negros Oriental Football Association (NORFA) booked a championship ticket after sweeping all its assignments. (THE FREEMAN)
