De los Santos, Losiaboi triumph anew
CEBU, Philippines - Fresh from her successful international debut, Mary Grace de los Santos refuses to sit on to her laurels and went on to collect another title through the 2010 Fitness Run at the Ayala Center-Cebu's Terraces as Kenyan Simon Losiaboi won the men's side once again yesterday morning.
De los Santos, who could still be recovering after racing in the half-marathon of the 2010 Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon where she landed second, she managed to take another title after crossing the finish line first among all female runners in the 12-K action.
De los Santos clocked 45:37.98.
At second was Mary Joy Tabal, who timed 49:58.47 while another seasoned runner, Madelyn Carter came third with a time of 50:30.80.
Occupying the fourth to 10th places in the women's 12-K were Emeralde Hermosilla (1:01:24.46), Mary Ann Benedicto (1:04:59.56), Abigail Lua (1:10:13.94), Catherine Infrido Busdis (1:11:30.19), Regie Real (1:14:11.92), Angelie Amores (1:14:43.92) and Giselle Lahay-Lahay with 1:15:09.01.
In the premiere men's 12-K, Simon Losiaboi overcame a daring Reiz Enriquez final stretch and clocked 40:15.85 to win.
Enriquez came 31 seconds behind at 40:46.60 to take second.
Adonis Singson and Alvirg Busa also had a close battle for third.
Singson eventually took the third spot with a time of 41:03.27 while Busa was fourth spot with a time of 41:43.15.
The same thing happened in fight for the next spot with Sherwin Managil claimed the fifth place with 45:38.19 over Leo Abello's 45:45.63.
The rest of the top 10 cast in the 12-K run were Xanderlyn Loloy (46:19.62), Julius Kinaadman (54:42.09), Victor de Gracia (56:19.55) and Marben Gomez with 57:28.73 clocking.
On the other hand, Joeyry Lee's decision not to challenge de los Santos even after winning a 10-K run the other week came out fruitful as she dominated the women's 6-K run with a time of 24:00.84 over Crisel Diongson's 24:52.05.
Merlyn Alin landed third with her time of 25:15.53.
In the men's 6-K, it was Jobert Carolino, who claimed the top spot with a time of 19:49.53.
He was followed by Rolando Batian with 21:01 while Charlie Berberio wound up third with 21:18.56.
Familiar names also claimed the top 3 spots in the men's 3-K with Jorry Ycong on top with a time of 8:20.53 as Robert Daang landed second with 8:20.58 and Ian Bernido at third spot with 8:50.61.
