Stickerworld overcomes Sherilin in JBA tilt

- GGM -

CEBU, Philippines - The Threesome/Stickerworld of team leader Tonyson “Mr. Showman” Lee ripped Sherilin Plastics, 72-64, at the start of the JCI Basketball Association’s 15th JBA Uptown Cup last Wednesday night at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

In the other game, Mang Inasal won by default over Savers Home Depot, 30-19, as the latter conceded defeat following the injury of big man Kendrick Sulay. The game was delayed for nearly an hour when Sulay slipped on the floor and grimaced in pain when his hipbone was bumped by a teammate while trying to retrieve a loose ball.

They have to wait for the arrival of the paramedics from the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) before Sulay was carried out of the playing court on a stretcher. It took the JBA players nearly one hour of waiting as nobody dared to pick Sulay up knowing that only professionals can apply emergency treatment to such an injured patient.

The official time was 4:24 in the second period and Mang Inasal was declared the winner.

In the other game, former USJ-R star and one-time CAAA MVP James Relampagos scored 24 points to power Threesome/Stickerworld to victory. Relampagos was backed up by Glenn Besanes with 11 markers.

The scores

Threesome/ Stickerworld (72) - Relampagos 24, Besanes 11, Rosal 9, So 7, Tecson 5, Go 4, Flores 4, Lee 2, Tiongco 2, Conde 2, Caya 2
