Green rules Thursday Club summer caging
CEBU, Philippines - Team Green overcame a spirited resistance by the Black side all throughout the 40-minute skirmish to hack out a razor-thin 90-89 victory and claim the 35-above championship of the 4th Thursday Club Summer Basketball League in Brgy. Jugan Consolacion.
Dadud Bagundol posted 16 points, while Waning Luaña and Victor Khon chipped in 28 markers combined for Green, which never bucked down in the face of the intense pressure applied by Black since it opened an early 45-38 lead.
Alfon Pepito paced Black with 18 points followed by Carlos Sasing, the tournament MVP, with 17 points. Bobot Pepito was honored as the Most Defensive Player, Alfron Pepito was crowned as the 3-point king, while Hon. Jaime Pilapil romped off with the Most Improved Player accolade.
In the battle for third place, Blue overshadowed White, 73-62. Jerry Jamila topped Blue with 16 points, even as three others cashed in twin digits. Marlito Jubay and Tony Pepito tossed in 13 points each, while Jumar Cabahug donated 12.
Brix Sateria led White with 12 points, while Daping Gonzaga added 10.
The event was organized by the Thursday Club led by president Dado Ygot and vice president Boboy Pepito. It was supported by Jugan barangay council under the flagship of Brgy. Capt. Dada Gielcheck.
