More prizes up for grabs in first Planet Sports Run
CEBU, Philippines - The top winners of the Planet Sports Run set on June 27 will not only have the cash prizes and medals to look forward to but also discounts and other exciting prizes through a raffle draw during the awarding ceremonies at The Terraces of Ayala Center.
This latest development was bared by the event organizers during a press conference yesterday at Big Mao Restaurant also in Ayala.
The first running event sponsored by Planet Sports features three race lengths - 10, 5 and 3 kilometers.
A total of P15,000 in cash prize plus P7,500 worth of gift certificates from sponsors are up for grabs for the top three performers in each class.
Registration fee is pegged at P250 for the 5 and 10K entries inclusive of a singlet, while participants in the 3K run will be assessed with P200 without a singlet.
This is being done to encourage the seasoned and intermediate runners to go for the 5 and 10K and leave the 3K to the newcomers specially the youngsters.
Registration forms are available at Planet Sports in Ayala Active Zone, The Athlete’s Foot, Nautica and at the Cebu City Sports Center.
The deadline for the submission of entries is on June 23. Race packs, however, may be claimed already on the 20th at the Planet Sports Run booth also at the Active Zone.
Those who will join the race are entitled to a 20 percent discount when they purchase New Balance and K-Swiss items at Planet Sports. They are also qualified for the raffle draw wherein some sporting goodies will be given away.
Planets Sports is organizing the race to promote a healthy lifestyle among the Cebuanos.
“This is the first time that we are doing this in Cebu although in Manila we have been partnering with different events. We plan to hold it annually, but it still depends upon the success of the upcoming event here,” said Tony Veloso of Planet Sports.
Veloso added that they’re expecting over 1,500 fitness buffs to take part in their maiden venture.
Meanwhile, Agnes Puno announced the opening of Planet Sports’ Warehouse at The Walk of Asiatown I.T. Park here today wherein athletes and the rest of the fitness enthusiasts can avail of discounts as big as 70 percent. – THE FREEMAN
