Maningo seizes SIBA cage crown
CEBU, Philippines - Team owner and playing coach Kenneth Maningo completed a crucial three-point play in the final 17 seconds as they dethroned the Garces squad via an 86-82 decision to rule the San Isidro Basketball Association (SIBA) open tournament at the Brgy. San Isidro open court in Talisay City.
Garces threatened at 82-83, but its comeback hopes was dashed by Maningo’s endgame heroics.
Former CIT Wildcat Ramil Aniñon topscored for Maningo with 27 points, while Maningo, a flashy sentinel, heavily backed him up with 26 markers.
Three Garces players finished in double figures led by Welbert Candol with 27 points. Team manager Jason Garces and Eugene Abapo had 18 and 16 points, respectively.
