12TH VIEW INVITATIONAL: Go-Cornelio, Garcia-Garcia win
CEBU, Philippines - The teams composed of Vicente Go and Oscar Cornelio and that of Ramontito Garcia and Bayani.
Garcia bagged the top honors in the 12th View Invitational, which concluded last Sunday at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.
Go, who incidentally is also the club’s tournament chairman, fired a net score of 70 strokes on the first day and then made 73 on the second day. His partner, Cornelio, shot an opening round of net 67 strokes and a second day of 70. Their two-day total of 280 strokes earned them the lowest net honors.
Ramontito and Bayani Garcia bagged the lowest gross honors. Ramontito fired one-under-par 71 on both rounds while Bayani, the reigning club champion of Cebu Country Club, also had identical rounds of 74 strokes. Their two-day aggregate was 290 strokes and they ran away with the title.
The four-day event is AVGCC’s annual member-guest tournament. Teams play two rounds within the period.
The class A title went to the team of Jufil Sato and Malaysian visitor Manmohan Singh with an aggregate of 142 points in the Modified Stableford Scoring System. Sato fired rounds of 40 and 34 while Singh had 33 and 35.
First runner-up for the premiere handicap class was the tandem of Marlo Cugtas and Boyet Dizon with a total of 140 points. Cugtas had rounds of 35 and 41 while Dizon shot 30 and 34.
Second runner-up was the tandem of Enrico Solon and Malaysian Foong June Choy with 137 points. Solon shot 34 and 27 while Foong made 39 and 37.
Club vice president Ricky Aznar and partner Rey Villar won the class B title with a two-day output of 142 points. Aznar had rounds of 37 and 40 while Villar made 34 and 31.
First runner-up was the team of Benjamin Hortelano and his daughter Joan with a total of 141 points. Benjamin made 38 and 37 while Joan had 38 and 28.
Second runner-up was the tandem of Benedict Uy and Edwin Morales with 138 points.
Uy shot 40 and 38 points while Morales made 31 and 29.
Hansel Ong and Mario Ong won the class C plum with 134 points. Hansel shot rounds of 34 and 39 while Mario made 29 and 32.
First runner-up for this class went to Glenn Sebastian and Alvin Lomondaya with 132.
Sebastian scored rounds of 31 and 32 while Lomondaya of Iligan shot 39 and 30 points.
Second runner-up was the team of Georgie Go and Danny Dy with 131 points. Go scored rounds of 31 and 31 while Dy made 35 and 34.
The seniors’ crown went to the pair of Chandran Rama and Alan Tuck with a total of 142 points. Rama made 37 and 39 while Tuck had 27 and 39.
First runner-up was the team of Felix Villanueva and retired General Rodante Joya shooting 136 points. Villanueva made 34 and 37 while Joya had 35 and 30.
Second runner-up was the duo of Rolando Alberto and Hospicio Razon with 125.
