CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano PBA fans will have a chance to rub elbows with their favorite players from crowd-darling Brgy. Ginebra Kings when they appear for autograph signing and photo session during the ‘Fans Day’ scheduled from 5 to 6 pm this Friday at the SM City-Cebu Entertainment Center.
The following day, the Gin Kings will clash with the Alaska Aces in bearing PBA provincial match billed as “Duwa sa Sugbo” at 5:30 pm at the Cebu Coliseum. The Gin Kings will parade import Mildon Amdres, while the Aces will tap the services of Diamond Simpson.
Event coordinator Dr. Boy Te of the Metro Cebu Uptown Jaycees said that only those ticket holders for the May 22 affair are allowed to get autographs of their Ginebra idols. They must present their tickets to the usherettes assigned in the area to control the crowd.
Te made the announcement during a press conference yesterday at the Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Brgy. Lahug. He was with the other members of the Metro Cebu Uptown Jaycees, which spearheaded the fund-raising project.
Te said proceeds of the match will be donated to the Jesus S. Avila Foundation, Inc. Also, five brand new wheelchairs will be raffled off during the game.
After hobnobbing with their Cebuano disciples, the Gin Kings will have dinner at Lai Garden Restaurant and Tea House-SM branch.
Both the Gin Kings and the Aces will arrive on Friday.
The Aces will have another itinerary that includes a courtesy visit to the graduation rites of the Alaska Power Camp summer basketball clinic conducted by coach Roel Gomez, himself a former Alaska mainstay, at the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) gym in Brgy. Punta Princesa.
Gomez said that Alaska team manager Joaqui Trillo and head coach Tim Cone will assist him in the distribution of the certificates of graduation.
Meanwhile, Te said they still have to confirm the preliminary match of the Ginebra-Alaska duel, which will involve the TNT MVP ng Bayan.
