Mandaue archers shoot for 3 golds
CEBU, Philippines - Three Mandauehanons made it to the final round of the 1st Cebu Archery Open Tournament yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City. They are Myla Agus, RJ Luarez and Romeo Betache.
Agus arranged a title showdown against Misco’s Bianco Gotuanco in the girls bowman division.
After two rounds, Gotuanco posted the highest score of 602 points, while Agus hit 539 markers. With the final round is yet to be played, anything can still happen for the young Mandauehanon.
Luarez, on the other hand, booked a gold medal battle against Silliman University Dumaguete Archery Club’s Chrisha Mae Merto in the girls novice final, while Betache will go up next against John Mark Laping of Dapitan.
The other archers who stormed into the gold medal round so far include SUDAC’s Karl Mari versus Luis Gabriel Moreno of AIM-X in the boys bowman, Celeandro Lujero of Gandiva in the boys novice, SUDAC’s Jose Adriano against his brother Delfin Anthony in the junior men’s recurve, Febelyn Encabo of Dapitan against Minah Laurente of Monarc in the recurve-cadet girls and Sarah Cabral of the University of Cordillera opposite Schinitee Tingas of SUDAC in the junior girls recurve.
