A 30-year-old man died while his four-year-old niece is in critical condition after his driven motorcycle hit another vehicle in Barangay Tuyan, Naga City last Wednesday night.
Cerilo Desinto, of Lakaron, San Fernando town, sustained severe injuries in different parts of his body and was pronounced dead on arrival at the South General Hospital.
PO2 Miguel Castañares, desk officer of Naga City Police Station said that Cerilo was driving a motorcycle bearing plate numbers GI-8640 on his way home together with his niece, identified as Darlyn Bea Desinto, 4, on pillion.
At around 6:20 p.m., when they reached the national highway, Cerilo accidentally swerved to the opposite lane and hit the Mitsubishi Canter bearing plate numbers GFP-905 driven by Joselito Gorry, resident of Ibabao, Mandaue City.
Castañares added that the victim was driving towards south while Gorry was going to Cebu City when the accident happened.
Cerilo and his niece were rushed to the South General Hospital where Cerilo died. Darlyn was later transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
Mitsubishi Canter was owned by Cebu Prime Farm Corporation.
However, Gorry voluntarily surrendered to the responding police officers.
Reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injury and damages will be the possible charges that will be filed against Gorry.
