CEBU, Philippines - The Cabancalan netters bagged three out of the five titles at stake in badminton event of the 3rd Mayor Jonas Cortes Cup Sportsfest at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
The tandem of JP Remedios and Bryan Bacalso pummeled their teammates Arnold Pastrana and Jun-jun Seno to claim the men’s doubles crown.
In the distaff side, Vivian Remedio and Flor Fornolles reigned supreme over Basak’s Teresita Dayanan and Jonah Abellana.
In the mixed doubles, Dio Ann Peña and Alex Bergatin emerged as champion after trouncing Kevin Bergatin and Flor Fornolles.
Jay Niño Tabelin and Ferdinand de los Reyes, on the other hand, ruled the 12-under boys category after thrashing the Nipulan siblings Louie Raiz and Ivan Dale of Maguikay.
Tabelin and Mary Michael Alvarez topped the mixed doubles class after gunning down Cleo Dayanan and Jimmy Jayme of Basak.
In chess, Labogon reclaimed its throne. Labogon was actually tied with Paknaan with idencial 9.0 points but Labogon won the top honors as its Board 1 player NM Leonardo Alidani edged out his Paknaan’s counterpart Eden Diano.
Aside from Aladino, the likes of Ramsey Pedroza, Reynaldo Flores and Danny Ralota powered Labogon to victory.
Jagobiao took the third place honors, while last year’s champion Subangdaku was relegated to fourth. (FREEMAN NEWS)
