Subangdaku of coach Dino Aribal bounced back from a second-set drawback to tame Maguikay in three sets, 25-9, 23-25, 25-17 and take home the boys crown.
Among those who figured prominently in Subangdaku's triumph were the likes of Troy Merth Fehl Aribal, John Rey Arenasa, Christian Pullan, Jufael Oriño, R.A. Tecson and Erwyn Lauron.
In the girls bracket, Subangdaku met little resistance in hacking out a 25-15, 25-21 victory over Maguikay.
Rhea Christine Fuentes spearheaded Subangdaku's championship finish alongside Princess Ablon, Sarah Montejo, Joanna Rosalejos and the Repaja siblings, Honey Mae and Honey Peach.
“We were so thankful that we were able to sweep the titles. This is a great honor for us and for the school since we made a history by claiming the first ever 3-below titles in the Mayor’s Cup volleyball tournament,” said Aribal.
“We hope that tournament like this, especially intended for the development of young kids, will continue in the years to come because this would really help the kids excel more and at the same time discover potentials,” Aribal added. – THE FREEMAN
