Five tennis events to highlight Mandaue fiesta

-

CEBU, Philippines - This year’s Mayor Jonas C. Cortes Cup Tennis Tournament will not just have one but five different competitions starting off with the veteran netters on March 27 at Mandaue City Tennis Club (MCTC) courts.

The veterans battle, however, is exclusive to MCTC members only.

After the veterans, there will be a special event on April 7 and 8.

On April 22 to 25, the Inter-Club Invitational Tennis Tournament will take place to be followed by the Men’s Open on April 27 to May 2.

The series of tennis tilts, which will end with the Junior Open on May 3 to 7, is in line with Mandaue's annual fiesta celebration in honor of its beloved patron St. Joseph the Worker on May 8.

It is spearheaded by the Mandaue City Sports Commission through its executive director Atty. Hedelito S. Pascual.

The different directors are Jun Saberon for the men’s open, Jun Teves for the Junior’s Open, Jefren Signe for the Inter-Club Invitational and Noe Abella for the veterans. Engr. Jerome A. Peralta is the overall Chairman assisted by Manuel Valdueza.

Aside from trophies, a total of P150,000 in cash prize is at stake for all the winners.

For further details, one may contact Eugene Ruiz at 343-8056, Jun Saberon at 0906-5024399, Jun Teves at 0921-545145), Jefren “Bata” Signe at 238-9766 or Manuel “Noe” Abella at 0920-6029121. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
