Echavez joins Philippine triathlon team

CEBU, Philippines - Top Cebuana triathlete Lhoriz Echavez has finally accepted the invitation to be part of the Philippine team.

The former swimming varsity of the University of San Carlos turned triathlete has already been invited by TRAP officials last year but she politely declined the offer due to several obligations here.

It was only after finishing the 21-kilometer event of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon last month that Echavez eventually made up her mind.

Echavez, who was one of the awardees during the 28th SAC-SMB All-Cebu Sports Awards two nights ago at Casino Español de Cebu, said she will be training in Manila but will go home occasionally.

“I’m giving this a try. I still don’t know what’s going to happen next, but let’s just wait and see,” Echavez said.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (FREEMAN NEWS)
