CEBU, Philippines - Alexander Nazareno and Jerei Marion Pingoy combined for 24 points in the fourth period and overtime as the Enervon C-UC Junior Webmasters pulled another close 95-91 victory over San Marino Corned Tuna-USC Baby Warriors in the juniors division of the 4th CESAFI Partner’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.
Earlier, the Aerosol-USPF Baby Panthers spanked the Prime Asia-DBTC Junior Greywolves, 74-70.
Alfred Codilla scored nine points mostly from free throws in overtime to help secure the Junior Webmasters’ fifth straight win in as many starts.
Anthony Gai Romaguera hit a triple to give the Baby Warriors an 80-79 lead with 44 seconds left in regulation, but Pingoy made it 82-80 by firing back with a three-pointer. Romaguera tied it for the last time, 82-all. Moments later, Pingoy was whistled for a dribbling violation in the final 10 seconds that would have been very costly, but luckily Romaguera did not make the shot in the return play, thus, the overtime.
Nazareno led the Junior Webmasters with 23 points and Pingoy, perhaps the best one-on-one high school player in Cebu today, had 22.
Meanwhile, Rommel Diapera finished with 15 points to lead the Baby Panthers, while Joshua Corcilles added 11 markers.
Chris Daryl Yap scored 16 points to lead the Junior Greywolves, who are winless in four consecutive games. (FREEMAN NEWS)
