Coaching and PE lecture series set at USC on Feb. 27

CEBU, Philippines - The need to learn the new trends and advanced scientific methods in training will soon be addressed as a Positive and Evidence-based Coaching for physical educators and coaches lecture series will be conducted at the University of San Carlos’ Law and Business School’s AVR on February 27.

Resource speakers include two certified strength and conditioning

specialists from the National Strength and Conditioning Association – Pio Gerardo Solon and Jeffrey Pagaduan. They will be joined by a certified athletic trainer of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association of the Philippines, Nino Sinco and a team leader and sports facilitator Anthony Terence Ocampo.

Solon, a graduate of Bachelor of Sports Science from the University of the

Philippines Diliman College of Kinetics and now the strength and conditioning coach of the multi-titled M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala will tackle positive and evidence coaching in developmental sport.

Pagaduan, founder of the Philippine Association of Sports and Exercise

Science and currently the strength and currently the Sports Performance consultant of the UP Diliman varsity program will discuss about motivation on Physical Education.

On the other hand, Ocampo will tackle outdoor adventure education. Ocampo’s background includes training with Outward Bound and Sea Sports in Singapore and a couple of adventure programs in the U.S.

The final part of the lecture series will be about career in sports, P.E. and the fitness industry by Nino Sinco, a former strength and conditioning coach of a team in the Philippine Basketball Association and the UAAP, a professor in sports science at the University of Sto. Thomas and currently the president of the Gatorade Sports Science Institute in the country, the managing director of Future Sports and events and fitness consultant of MERALCO.

This whole day activity is open to P.E teachers, coachers, sports coordinators, athletic directors and fitness instructors among others.

Registration for students, who are P.E. majors is pegged at P150 while the rest will be assessed P500.

The fee covers two snacks, handouts for all participants and certificate of attendance.
