NM Enriquez rules Bogo Open chessfest
CEBU, Philippines - NM Rogelio Enriquez, Jr. prevailed over a strong field of opposition to rule the Bogo Open Chess Tournament over the weekend.
Enriquez and Voltaire Sevillano were actually tied with similar 6.5 points after the 7-round Swiss system competition but Enriquez bagged the top prize by virtue of a superior tie-break output of 33.5 points applying the Bucholz system. Sevillano got only 32.0 points.
IM Kim Steven Yap and Dennis Navales also finished with identical 5.5 points, but Yap grabbed the third place honors also via a higher tie-breaker.
Completing the top eight finishers were Rommil Asoque, Erwin Ababat, Bonn Tibod and Kyle Sevillano all with 5.0 points.
Lito Manigsaca and Patricio Tonacao emerged as the top scorers from Bogo in the seniors division with 4.5 points, while Jasper Doldolea and Ian Hilot got the same accolade in the kiddies category.
