SRBC lashes back at Apartelle in BNB caging

-

CEBU, Philippines - Former UV Lancers standouts Abel Bungcaras and Randy de la Pisa powered the San Remigio Beach Club to a vengeful 85-69 victory over erstwhile tormentor The Apartelle Suites in the 1st Benjamin Neri Borromeo Memorial basketball tournament at the Immanuel Bible College (IBC) gym in Banawa, this city.

In the other game, the Tuesday Club snapped out of its six-game jinx at the expense of Cebu Grand Hotel, 97-77.

Bungcaras, now the assistant coach of the UV Baby Lancers, hauled 21 points and De la Pisa added 19 markers as they moved to solo second place with a 4-1 win-loss record behind league front-runner Apartelle (6-2).

Wilson Gabucan paced Apartelle with 18 points followed by Bong Eleazar and Oliver Sanoy with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Nesty Mendoza, on the other hand, exploded with 31 points for the Tuesday Club, which finally barged into the win column after a woeful 0-6 start. Mendoza was ably backed up by Aaron Pancho and Ralph Rosales with 36 points combined.

Lorelito Luis Enero fired a game-high 35 points but his singular offensive outburst went for naught as Grand Hotel fell to 3-3.
