Kim-Cabrera, Neri-Borromeo win

- Nimrod NL Quiñones -

CEBU, Philippines - Kim Jae Eun and Nestor Cabrera ran away with the overall lowest net title in the 29th Coral Invitational while the tandem of Jovi Neri and Andre Borromeo took the lowest gross plum as the tournament wrapped up yesterday at the Cebu Country Club.

The spotlight was however focused on heart surgeon Arnold Tan, who aced the 152 yards hole No. 5 yesterday.

Tan used a Prodigal Titanium Force 8-iron and a Bridgestone No. 3 ball for the feat. Hole No. 5 is currently a blind hole due to ongoing construction as a huge mound sits in between the tee and the green.

The feat was witnessed by Ven Lacustales, Richard Tiansay, and Carmelo Lauengco as well as their marker Gloria Alazas from the ladies chapter, who are volunteering to help the tournament.

Tan won a townhouse worth P 1 million courtesy of Prohomes.

Kim and Cabrera fired identical rounds of 87 for a two-day effort of 174 points. In the first day, Kim made 49 points while Cabrera had 38. On the second round, Kim shot 42 points while Cabrera made 45.

The tournament uses the Modified Stableford Scoring System that awards six points for a net double-eagle, five for a net ace, four for net eagle, three for net birdie, two for net par, and one for net bogey.
