Woodfin flattens Jabarri in URCC 5

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - Tom “The Hawk” Woodfin shone the brightest star of the night as he scored a spectacular first round stoppage of Razi Jabarri in the well-attended Colt 45-Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) 5:Deliverance last Saturday at the Cebu International Convention Center.

Woodfin, who hails from United Kingdom and trained under Team Deftac and Yaw-Yan Cebu Ardigma, led loose a powerful roundhouse kick to that jaw that flattened Jabbari for good at 6:36 of the opening round. Jabbari was unconscious for a couple of minutes before he regained his senses with an aid of an oxygen tank.

“He’s (Jabbari) bigger, but I don’t think he was stronger,” said the 24-year-old Woodfin after the abbreviated match.

In the supporting bouts, Demetrio “The Standard” de la Torre and Maxlito “Hyper” Yong met contrasting fates.

Yong of Yaw-Yan Musang retained his URCC Visayas flyweight belt with a second round TKO win over Capanay’s Remus Belguerra, while De la Torre lost his URCC Visayas pinweight belt to DEFTAC’s Victor “The Gladiator” Torre by TKO at 1:22 of the second round

Yong went too much for Capanay’s Remus Belguerra and retained his title after only 2:01 in the initial round by TKO.

While Yong was successful, Dela Torre suffered his first loss in the URCC after five fights, and worse, lost his regional pinweight title to Torre after the latter put on a rear naked choke, 1:22 in the second round.

All of Yaw-Yan bets emerged victorious save for Engi “The Destroyer” Piloto, who was stopped by Ritchie Redman of Iloilo’s Capanay Stable via tap out with just 39 seconds left in the first round.

In the other matches, Mark “Buhawe” Revalde prevailed over Sloy “Black Smith” Analito by unanimous decision, Jerlyn”The Matador” Liera finished off Capanay’s Argie Junsay at 2:26 of the second round and Geronimo “Matador” Etac retired Wilfredo “Tiger Force” Cajurao at 1:30 of the first round.

Jimmy “The Silencer” Yabo, Jecar “The Alligator” Tumulak and Arie Zarco also joined the winners’ podium. Yabo outlasted Leo “The Sandman” Gaerlan of Yaw-Yan Musang by TKO at 5:59 of round five, Tumulak eked out a split decision win over Sevilla “The Grip” Intoy, while Zarco, the last minute replacement of Cary “The Prince” Bullos, whipped Jerome “The Cruiser Fist” Torbiso at 2:28 of the first round.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
