No changes at top of Coral golf
CEBU, Philippines - There are no changes at the top of the leader board after two days of the 29th Coral Invitational at the Cebu Country Club.
Teams play two rounds in this tournament with the first half of the field seeing action last Wednesday and the second half played their opening round yesterday.
The tandem of Kim Jae Eun and Nestor Cabrera remains as the leader with a combined effort of 87 points behind the spectacular 13-under-par 49 points of Kim.
The tournament uses the Modified Stableford Scoring System where a net double-eagle is six points, a net ace is five, net eagle is four, net birdie is three, net par is two, and net bogey is one.
Two teams are tied at second spot with 86 points apiece. These are that of Collin Go and Philip Huang and that of Yasuaki Suda and Shigeru Matsui.
Glen Saw and Ronnie Ortille had the best performance among the teams that played their first round in very windy conditions yesterday as they made a total of 84 points.
One stroke back is the team of Jaime Antunez and Michael Lim with 83 points.
Five teams are lumped with 82 points apiece. These are Vito Laferlita and Michael G. Go, Tito Pintor and Malou Cugtas, Alex Garcia and Paul Lee, Joseph Yu and Eduard Yu, and Bebot Baldemor and Choy Ramos.
Gerry Gollon and Freddie Salimbangon combined for 81 points as well as the tandem of Jerry Ong Uy and Ari Clinton Lee.
Three other teams made 80 points apiece. These are Ken Nakada and Felix Villanueva, Bruno Gonzalez and Rey Dira and Jet Neric and Al Parson.
In the seniors’ class, which is for teams with combined ages of 120 years old and above, Joseph and Eduard Yu continue to set the pace with their 82 points.
They are now tied for the top post with Baldemor and Ramos.
Henry Dy and James Gaite are at third spot with 77 points.
The first half of the field will finish the tournament today while the rest will play their final round of Saturday.
