CEBU, Philippines - In an un-precedented move, ‘macho’ men will join a host of pretty girls who will sashay around the ring in between rounds during the keenly-awaited “Rapid Fire...Binukbokay!” fight card on January 23 at the Tabunok Sports Complex.
The slambang fisticuffs is the inaugural presentation of the newly-formed DTT Events and Promotions founded by Milbert “Dax” F. Dacayana, businessman Tom Buño and international referee/judge Teddy Alivio.
Dacayana said during a news conference yesterday at Red Moon Cafe in Gaisano Tabunok that they commisioned the so-called ‘ring boys’ as part of their innovation relative to their goal of changing the face of boxing as well as injecting a different approach to boxing promotion in Cebu.
“We want to make sure that our show would be different from other boxing promotions because this is the first time that we are going to introduce our group (DTT) to the public. We are focusing on every detail to make it a truly entertaining event,” said Dacayana.
“We will give it a different approach and one of which is having ‘round boys’ aside from the usual ring girls. I know this new idea will be met with a lot of criticisms but I’m hopeful that later on this will be accepted,” added the former banker turned promoter.
To further strenghten DTT’s corporate pillar, Dacayana said they extended their promotional arm to the United States with Marco Reburiano and Cris Diamante serving as their marketing directors for California and New York, respectively.
Dacayana also proudly announced DTT’s business tie-up with Singapore’s Primo Vista Promotions of Ted Miller.
“We have signed up a promotional contract with Primo Vista Promotions and our initial project is to stage a major title fight in Singapore this August,” said Dacayana.
Dacayana, on the other hand, said everything are already in place for their maiden venture in the professional arena.
