Triathlon this Sunday at Plantation; Halad Kang Mano Amon Run back on 24th

CEBU, Philippines - The final leg of the 3-15-3 Triathlon will take place this Sunday at the Plantation Bay Resort and Spa in Mactan Island.

In a press conference at Plantation Bay yesterday, Danao City Councilor Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez, Jr. said they decided to stage the event at the posh resort as part of their Durano Clan reunion.

With that, Department of Tourism (DoT) secretary Joseph Ace Durano, Cebu Fifth District Rep. Red Durano, their father Danao Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III and some members of the Durano clan are out to showcase their wares in the grueling three-in-one sport.

The categories to be featured in the race backstopped by Plantation Bay, Danao Sports Commission, Sugbu Triathlon, and Boying Rodriguez are the juniors (19 years old and under), seniors 20 (20 to 29), seniors 30 (30 to 39), masters (40 above), mountainbike, female open and the tandem, which consists of two athletes of any gender.

Registration fee is pegged at P250 inclusive of a swim cap, BIB number and snacks.

Meanwhile, everything is already in place for the 29th edition of “Halad Kang Mano Amon Run” on Christmas eve.

In the past two years, the longest running event in Southern Philippines dedicated to the late Grand Old Man of Danao Ramon Durano, Sr. was contested on December 20 due to the request of runners who plan to go to their respective provinces during Christmas Day.

This year, the organizing DCSC decided to return the race to its usual date on December 24 to give way for this Sunday’s triathlon. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (FREEMAN NEWS)
