CGBL caging opens this afternoon

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Golden Basketball League (CGBL), a new group of hoop buffs aged at least 50 years old, will kick off its inaugural tournament today at the Inayawan Sports Complex.

Before the hardcourt war, a simple opening program will be held at 1 pm.

A total of six teams from as far as Danao in the North and Naga in the South will showcase their wares and vie for top honors.

These are the Danao Ruby Star Basketball Association (DARUSBA), Los Amigos Basketball Association (LABA) from Mandaue, Better Run Basketball Association (BRBA) from Mambaling, Minglanilla Basketball Association (MIBA), Naga Above Forty Basketball Association (NAFBA) and host Power Forty.

 League organizer and CGBL founder Atty. Flor Yosores has invited Cebu City mayoralty aspirant Michael L. Rama as the guest of honor in the opening bash. Inayawan Brgy. Capt. Rustom Ignacio will deliver the welcome address, while Yosores will formally declare the tournament open.  – GGM (THE FREEMAN)
