Cebu Blue Marlins fish out 13 golds in G-League swimfest

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Blue Marlins Swimming Club sealed their bid with a total of 13 golds,15 silvers and nine bronzes in the 2009 G-League Short Course Swimming Championships at Trace Aquatic Center in Los Baños, Laguna yesterday.

Anthony Linn Navarro of the Cebu Eastern College grabbed two more golds under the boys 11-under class through the 200m individual medley and 200m backstroke. He also had a bronze in the 1,500m freestyle.

Anthony Linn’s sister Lyh Ann added a silver in the girls 10-under 50m butterfly.

On the other hand, University of Cebu ’s Paula Abigail Vega and FBC Christian School’s Pierre Niño Baguio Michael Ichiro Kong added glitter to the Queen City of the South’s bid.

Kong grabbed another gold through the 10-under 50m butterfly and a silver in the 200m individual medley, while Vega got an additional silver in the 18-above 800m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

The other medals of Cebu City in the final day of action came from Noel Cañeda with a silver and a bronze and Daniele Ballesteros with a silver. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (FREEMAN NEWS)
