OZR Grand Prix Series final leg set on Sunday

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebuano motorsports enthusiasts are in for another exciting treat of fast-paced and high-octane action with the staging of the fifth and final leg of the 2009 OZR Grand Prix Series this Sunday at the Parkmall parking area.

“The competition is going to be more thrilling and intense since this is already the final leg,” said OZ Racing marketing director Chad Mascariñas during a news conference yesterday at Bo’s Coffee in Parkmall.

Mascariñas was joined in launching the event by Joseph Neil Calumpang of OZ Racing, Andei Ursal of Drei Bikes, Arnell Fajardo of Team OZR, Insik Flores and Marion Borbon of Team X-Racing, and Scout Tumulak of Norkis.

The main goal of the five-leg underbone motorcycle racing is to promote the sport and discover new talents among the local riders.

“We are scouting for potentials who we can cultivate and develop so that someday they may compete in the international circuit racing,” added Mascariñas.

Aside from discouraging illegal street racing where people get hurt, OZ Racing also aims to promote safety riding precautions and good sportsmanship.

For this Sunday’s showdown, at least 50 daredevils from 10 racing clubs are expected to see action.

These are Team Mac, Team Pidot, OZ Racing, Cyrus Racing Team, Team Norkis, Bradz Racing Team, Drei Bikes, Skut Garage, X-Racing and URBC Team.

For the first time, the organizers are including the “first timers” among the categories to be contested. The rest are beginners superstock 110cc, beginners superstock 125cc, automatic mix open, novice open, and expert open.—EBV   (FREEMAN NEWS)
