Team Violet clinches LABA Inter-Color cage crown
CEBU, Philippines - Team Violet of the Los Amigos Basketball Association (LABA) overcame a furious fourth quarter rally by the UTASSCO-sponsored Blue squad to eke out a 67-56 win and clinch the title of the 2009 LABA Inter-Color Tournament the other night at the Banilad Sports Center.
The LABA-Violet was a little bit lucky as their lead balloned to 17 points, 42-25, from a close 22-19 edge in the third period.
Glen Jakosalem, who copped the MVP trophy, topped Violet with 16 points.
Arnold Pestaño had 19 points for Blue of team owner Atty. Flor Yosores.
In the battle for third, Pink overshadowed the Green cagers, 73-64.
Cesar Lee, one of the LABA founders, was on hand to award the trophies and cash prizes to the winning teams.
