CEBU, Philippines - Two well-known young riders in Jon-Jon Adlawan and John Flores had the time of their lives after receiving the most applause and roaring cheers during the 15th leg of the 2009 MS Motosuit Motocross Series dubbed as the “3rd Mayor Deogenes Derama Motocross Challenge” in the historic southern Cebu municipality of Boljoon the other day.
Adlawan of Power Sports Racing came up with a dramatic come-from-behind victory in the expert divison of the one-day tilt presented by Castrol Power One.
In the first and second heats, Dumaguete’s Irwin Uypitching was on the lead but Adlawan deftly overtook him in the final heat to snatch the top honors. Another PSR rider Juvanni Abellar finished third.
Likewise, Flores lived up to expectations by nailing back-to-back victories in the novice open production class.
This time, Flores outsmarted Ryan Querol, while Donkey Sanchez settled for third. Flores also got a third place trophy via the intermediate class won by Jubenile Abellar.
Irwin Uypitching’s brother Adam is also back in the groove and immediately made his presence felt by lording it over in the beginners’ open production. Sanchez wound up second followed by Querol.
Bonnie Bustillo claimed the local enduro title over the same riders beaten by Adam.
Sanchez though did not go home empty-handed as he topped the open enduro category by defeating Bustillo and Querol.
Reigning “Rider of the Year” Siegfred Ornopia of Kiez BJ Racing Team stayed too hot to handle in the executive A so as his son Brylle.
With a new dirtbike, Brylle came up with a more convincing victory in the mini class.
BJ Pepito, however, prevented Brylle’s brother Ken Kerry from stealing the show from him by dominating the pewee 7 and 5below classes.
In the executive B, Jun Enriquez outpaced Butch Flores, while Roscel Gungob took home the executive C crown.
