Cebu m'bikers to see action in Malaysia tourney

CEBU, Philippines - Three Cebuanos and a downhiller from Dumaguete City will be leaving the country tomorrow to represent the country in the Asian Mountainbike Championships in Malacca, Malaysia. They are Niño Surban, Marites Bitbit and John Mier and Dumaguete’s Wendel Barba, cousin of SEA Games gold medallist Joey Barba.

Surban, the first Pinoy medallist in the junior division of the AMC, is hoping to make his best finish ever in the AMC under the elite division.

Surban’s best placing in the AMC is at eighth twice in Bali, Indonesia and Vietnam.

This time, Surban is motivated to do better as his benefactors will be with him in Malaysia including Danao City councilor Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez Jr. and Toshio Nagashima. The multi-titled Surban is also supported by OZ Racing and Dan’s Bikeshop. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (FREEMAN NEWS)
