ANS, DBTC start hot in Pintaflores bootfest

-

CEBU, Philippines - Two teams from Cebu hurdled their opening assignments in the 2009 Pintaflores Football Tournament in San Carlos City.

The Abellana National School (ANS)-Pomeroy, fresh from winning the championship in the Milo Little Olympics National Championship over the weekend, did not show any signs of fatigue in its masterful 5-2 disposition of Dumaguete.

ANS coach Francis Ramirez earlier thought they will face the RP squad in the opener but fortunately for them, they were pitted against Dumaguete.

Riding high on their latest achievement, the spirited ANS bootters staged a blitzkrieg attack with four straight goals that stunned the Dumagueteños.

Interestingly, Dan Marnel Villarico broke the ice of the match with just 38 seconds gone by in the game. A few minutes later, he knocked in another goal before Jovan Bacus and Jose Lou Bacunawa followed suit to hand ANS a commanding 4-0 advantage at halftime.

After the break, Dumaguete countered with two goals, but Rogelio Castillon, Jr. found the back of the net to seal ANS’ bid.

In the other game, Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) pulled off a 2-0 whitewash of Dipolog.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
