CEBU, Philippines - Elvis Presley will lead 600 other runners in the Rock N’ Run 2 slated to take off at The Terraces November 8. This is the second time that Elvis joined this run.
Elvis is no other than Raffy Uytiepo, Cebu’s marathon man and acknowledged as “Elvis of the Visayas,” will run in his signature white jumpsuit and will belt out hits by Elvis before the race.
Johnnie Lim, president of the Spa and Wellness Association, and organizer of the event said they have increased the distance of the race from 10K to 12K (for male and female). There will also be the standard 3K and 5K distances.
The champions in the 12K division, for both male and female, will receive P7,000 while the second and third placers will pocket P5,000 and P3,000, respectively. The fourth placers will get P1,000, fifth placers to take home P700 while the sixth to tenth placers will earn P300.
Winners in the 5K and 3K races will likewise receive cash prizes.
Race director Joe Deresas said they are expecting to attract more runners because organizers will be giving out cash prizes to the best costumed-runner as well as the youngest and oldest runner.
To add more kick to the event, Lim said bands would be playing rock and roll hits before and after the race.
