Echo Appliance takes opener in SHABA finals

CEBU, Philippines - Echo Appliance trounced defending champion Pier One, 56-45, to gain a 1-0 upstart in their best-of-three finals series in the 14th Sacred Heart Alumni Basketball Association (SHABA) season at the old Sacred Heart School-Jesuit (SHS-J) campus gym along General Maxilom Avenue, this city.

Both squads fought on even playing field, with Echo Appliance leading by just a matchstick, 34-33, at the end of the third period.

Echo Appliance, however, breathe fire in the closing minutes of the contest to come up with an 11-point victory behind the sizzling endgame charge of Adrian Lao and Jiggy Acha.

Lao paced Echo Appliance with 15 points followed by Acha with 13 markers.

Dave Lim netted 15 points for Pier One followed by Dennis Que with 12.
