Baby Panthers pulverize Dragons
CEBU, Philippines - Rommel Diapera pumped in 55 points, 30 of them he dropped in the third period, as the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers smashed the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons, 150-65, in the juniors division of the 9th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) basketball season at the Cebu Coliseum.
Diapera, who peppered the Dragons with 11 3-pointers, never scored again in the fourth period as it was Jameson Salazar who took the scoring chores with 23 points. Chris Niño Pitogo and James Ricsil Silao added 16 and 12 markers as the Baby Panthers improved their win-loss record to 2-7.
An interesting fact though for CEC was that its top gunner Jerry Lin came up with a career-high 29 points. John Anthony Damole submitted 19 points, while Raymond Sypongco had 10 points as the Dragons exited on a pensive note without a win in eight games.
On the other hand, the Baby Panthers, who could no longer avail of the twice-to-beat advantage due to sorry losses against the USJ-R Baby Jaguars and the USC Baby Warriors, are now only fighting for sixth place overall. (GGM) . (FREEMAN NEWS)
