Cobras rout Wildcats in CESAFI basketball

CEBU, Philippines - After suffering back-to-back losses, the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras routed Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT) Wildcats 74-45 in last night's collegiate game of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) at the Cebu Coliseum.

Offguard Eleazar Armecin returned to the Cobras’ line-up and topscored with 19 points. Eluid Poligrates also had a sterling night, scoring 16 points.ond half when they led 44-18. The win improved the Cobras' 

The Cobras put the game away as early as the second half when they led 44-18. The win improved the Cobras’ record to 3-3.

Cobras’ coach Dodie Miego was so confident with the way his wards were playing that he let his second stringers play including rookie Benito Ortuyo.

The Cobras kept on pounding on the Wildcats and had built a 32-point lead, 66-34, with only five minutes left in the game.

Tall rookie Arnel Ipang led the Wildcats with 10 points. The team fell to 2-4. Veteran Heroche Molero finished only with eight points. Rookie Chester Curso was also off sync scoring eight points as well.

In one of the secondary matches, the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR) Baby Jaguars demolished Cebu Eastern College (CEC) 142-33.
