Flores pugs shine in Cortes slugfest

CEBU, Philippines - The spirited simonpures from the Flores Boxing Club dominated the latest leg of the Mayor Jonas Cortes Boxing at the Park at the Mandaue City Plaza Square.

FBC hurdled four out of its six entries, posting all their wins against the equally-aggressive fighters from the Philippine-Australian Boxing Club.

Jerry Soreno Jr. sparked FBC’s sizzling charge with a 2-1 disposition of Exel Mogar in the 20 kgs. class, while Melmark Dignos nailed a 3-0 shutout of Jeffrey Stela in the 30 kgs. division.

Uelmark Dignos gained a 2-1 victory against Jason Tunaao in the 39 kgs. but it was Juan Aparege who scored FBC’s most impressive triumph, stopping Jundel Siaton in 38 seconds of the third round in their 54 kgs. duel.

PABC avenged its string of defeats to FBC only twice courtesy of 25 kgs. Kent Mike Tuñacao and 30 kgs. Miguil Semblante. Tuñacao beat Ariel Sibay, 2-1, while Semblante silenced Junreil Jecong, 3-0.

The other victorious PABC pugilists were 25 kgs. Richard Rama against Ramel Casanares and 60 kgs. Roldan Asero against Sibonga’s Robert Etorma. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (FREEMAN NEWS)
