Talisay cagefest kicks off today

CEBU, Philippines - The 2009 Talisay City Mayor’s Cup Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament unfolds this afternoon at the Talisay City Sports Complex.

Organized by the Talisay City Sports Commission and the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, the annual event features the senior and SK divisions.

A total of 18 teams spread into four brackets vie for supremacy in the SK division.

Composing bracket A are Dumlog, San Roque, San Isidro, Camp 4, and Lawaan 2, while bracket B has Tabunok 1, Lawaan I and II and Poblacion 2.

Bracket C will have Maghaway, Tabunok 2, Poblacion 1, Jaclupan and Linao as bracket D has Pooc, Cansojong, Mohon and Bulacao.   

The seniors category will have bracket A and B.

Under the bracket A are Dumlog, Tabunok 2, Poblacion 2, Pooc, Lawaan 1 and San Isidro, while the other bracket has Tabunok 1, Poblacion 1, Cansojong, Lawaan 3, Lagtang and Tangke.

Cebu First District Rep. Eduardo “Eddiegul” R. Gullas and Talisay City Mayor Soc Fernandez head the list of dignitaries set to grace the affair.

Councilor Osmundo Manreal, Jr., president of the Liga ng mga Barangay, will lead the oath of sportsmanship, while councilor Rodi Cabigas, the city council’s committee chairman on Games, Amusements, and Professional Sports will formally declare the tournament open.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (FREEMAN NEWS)
