The Webmasters were somehow experimenting in the first half as coach Roel Gomez fielded in his second stringers and seldom-used crew. As a result, they were down by as much as 15 points, 27-42, in the second period.
However, the Webmasters unleashed their true firepower after the short break, with 6-foot-9 beanpole June Mar Fajardo unloading 20 of his 22 points bridging the third and fourth periods.
Sensing that their four-game roll was at stake, Fajardo and the Webmasters put their acts together to come up with an amazing comeback and eventually grab the lead, 60-58, on Moncrief Rogado’s jumper with 3:40 left to play in the third canto.
UC led by as much as 26 points, 100-74, entering the final two-minute zone of the contest. The rest, they say, was history as the Webmasters smoothly cruised to their best ever 5-0 start in the nine-year old league.
