Atan Guardo, Yayoy's Grill pummel foes in USCBHABA
CEBU, Philippines - Atan Guardo '93 and Yayoy's Grill and Resto Bar 2002 kept their sizzling run with convincing victories over separate foes in the 2009 University of San Carlos Boys High Alumni Basketball Association (USCBHABA) Atan Guardo Barkadahan Cup Second Conference at the USC-North Campus gym.
Atan Guardo rode an a furious endgame offensive to bump off Athan '92, 86-74, while Yayoy's Grill capitalized on a third-quarter explosion to turn back Slima '96, 76-66.
The two protagonists engaged in an air-tight battle at the outset resulting into a 44-all deadlock at halftime, but Atan Guardo went strong in the final half capped by 19-11 rally in the windup for the 12-point romp.
Later, Yayoy's Grill trailed for most of the way including by five points at the break, 31-36, but charged back in the third quarter, 22-9, to wrest the lead, 53-45, for good.
