CEBU, Philippines - There will no longer be Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Games this year because it will be replaced with the National Higher Education Institution (NAHEI) Games slated to fire off in February next year.
The PRISAA member schools along with the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) will be merged as one to represent the region for the NAHEI Games.
PRISAA-7 Officer-In-Charge Ryan Aznar of Southwestern University (SWU) attended the National Board of Trustees meeting last Friday at the Quezon City Sports Club to discuss the matter.
CHED Chairman Dr. Emmanuel Angeles and PRISAA Chairman Gonzalo Duke were present during the assembly along with the regional PRISAA presidents.
“We discussed about this along with Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and PRISAA officials that instead of having the private schools only, they decided to include the state colleges and universities as well,” said Aznar.
“This is an improvement to our regional and national sporting events although this is an experiment, yet we’ll try and see the outcome of NAHEI Games in February next year,” Aznar added.
Aznar said he will meet with the officials of the provincial member schools this Wednesday to brief them on this latest development
“I will be discussing it with the provincial delegation so that we could act on it now that PRISAA will be merging with SCUAA,” Aznar said. - THE FREEMAN
