CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine-Australian Boxing Club (PABC) simonpures swept all but one of their assignments at the start of the August leg of the Mayor Jonas Cortes Amateur Boxing at the Park at the Mandaue Plaza Square.

The PABC bets posted a 3-1 win-loss record led by Wenceslao Gakit (not the Provincial Board member), who stopped Banilad National High School ’s Dario Luga in 34 seconds of the third round in their 52 kgs. battle.

Gakit’s teammates in 23 kgs. Kent Mike Tunacao and 27 kgs. Romel Tunacao scored a similar 3-0 beating of Sanai Boxing Club's Archie Jakosalem and John Kevin Aliguay, respectively.

PABC's 24 kgs. fighter Richard Rama was not as lucky as he fell prey to Cabancalan Elementary School’s Vicente Seos-e Jr.

Two other Cabancalan pugs made it to the winners' list, with Bryan Remedio outclassing Ronalden Ignacio of Gothong National High School in 25 seconds of the second round under the 32 kgs. class and Mark Emmanuel Villarino silencing Sanai’s Alred Sibay in the 39 kgs. division.

On the other hand, Pit-os’ Dominique Castañares pulled off a 2-1 win against Cabancalan’s Junret Caspe in the 22 kgs., Talamban’s Kevin Jake Castaraja outsmarted Ferde San Roque in the 42 kgs., and Sanai’s Sherwin Caday overpowered Roland Diaz in the 50 kgs. class.

Ramil Castañares of Pit-os emerged victorious in his debut against John Kevin Aligway of Panay Boxing Club, while Balamban’s Robert Labanza needed just 59 seconds to dispose off his opponent in the ALA Boxing and Fitness Gym-organized event. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
