YMTEC/McMill gets past Team 8 in double overtime

CEBU, Philippines - The YMTEC/McMill had to pass through double overtime before getting rid of the stubborn Team 8, 118-111, in the Basketball Association of Ramos (BAR) Jun Pe Fiesta Cup 2009 at the Benjamin Solon Memorial Complex in Brgy. Cogon-Ramos, this city.

McMill trailed by as much as 10 points, 60-70, in the final quarter of the regulation period, but slowly caught up with Team 8. A perimeter jumper by Jek Ybañez with 11 seconds left in the gameclock forged a 91-all deadlock, thus, the first overtime.

Team 8, with Richie Recson, Rene Miano and Ronald Libre leading the charge, was again in control but Bebot Ancot scored off a barreling drive with five seconds remaining to knot the count at 105-all, and send the game into another five-minute extension.

As the battle resumed, McMill poured all its energy left to outclass the fagged out Team 8.

Danny de la Peña and Ancot powered McMill with 25 and 20 points, respectively. Ybañez, Gangang Navarro, Kid Secuya and Dodong Elizalde also finished in double figures as they improved their win-loss record to 3-1.

Marlou Monreal posted a game-high 28 points, Ronald Libre added 26 points and Rene Miano had 23 markers for Team 8, which stayed winless in three starts.
