Bajao Customs turns back LLBA in Purcia hoopla

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Bajao Customs Brokerage of Jefferson Bajao streaked past the Rollway Freight Forwarders-sponsored Lapu-Lapu Basketball Association (LLBA), 78-72, to stay unbeaten after two games in the 2nd Gilbert Purcia Cup 2009 basketball tournament at the old Sacred Heart School-Jesuit (SHS-J) gym along Gen. Maxilom Avenue, this city.

The LLBA of coach Billy Nudalo enjoyed a 55-51 lead after three quarters courtesy of Mario Bancali’s efforts, but Marvin Sillar and Allen Tero hit bigtime shots at crunchtime to change the complexion of the match in favor of the Bajao squad. The other key players in Bajao’s 27-17 endgame rally were Jumie Ararao and Lex Lauron.

Ronnie Ruiz and Sillar had 17 and 15 points, respectively, for Bajao. Kakay Versoza paced LLBA with 20 markers.

Earlier, Joseph Jayme, Aldwin Limatog and Randy Francia sparked a 22-6 rally in the windup to power CARGA past UPS-ASPAC, 68-54, while Lite Shipping won by default over Shangri-la.
