84 teams in BTC Cup

CEBU, Philippines - AT least 84 teams have signed up to join the 1st BTC Cup - Thirsty Hoop Jams ’09, an inter-school 3-on-3 basketball series slated next month at Banilad Town Centre.

They come from 18 private elementary and secondary schools whose entries their respective school administrations have endorsed and supported by their coaches and parents.

Twenty-six teams registered under the 16-under category, 24 teams in the 14-under category, 21 teams in the 12-under category and 13 teams in the 10-under category, disclosed Cerwin T. Eviota, the tournament commissioner.

The technical committee will convene on Monday, July 27, to determine the elimination process and set the schedules of the games that will open on Aug. 8 and played in front of the main lobby entrance of the BTC mall in Banilad, Cebu City.

“We are excited about the coming games and we are pleased that the schools are happy we have provided the basketball players among their students an avenue to be exposed in competitive games,” remarked Eviota, also the marketing director of BTC.

The schools participating in the 1st BTC Cup include Academ Institute, Inc., Benthel Asia School, Bright Academy, Cebu Cherish School, Cebu Eastern College, Center for International Education;

Don Bosco Technology Center, M. Zed Christian School, Marianne Childhood Center, Inc., PAREF Springdale School, Philippine Christian Gospel School, Royal Oaks International School;

Sacred Heart School of the Society of Jesus, St. Alphonsus Catholic School, St. Louis School, Southwestern University and University of San Carlos (USC) - North and South.
