Black, Yellow reach SFAA semis
CEBU, Philippines – The AC Sports-sponsored Black squad pulled off an 80-59 demolition of Green K2S team of Nestro Kyamko to grab the last semifinal berth in the Still Fighting Athletics Association (SFAA) 2009 First Conference inter-color basketball tournament at the CEC gym.
Earlier, the highly-favored Yellow-Master Drug annihilated Maroon-Roger Morri, 88-69.
Green was ahead by as much as 11 points in the final period, but Black suddenly caught fire and unleashed a searing 26-4 rally to turn things around in its favor.
With Green’s defeat, it also relinquished the overall lead to Yellow, which will proceed into the penultimate round with an 8-2 win-loss record.
Meanwhile, Michael Sumayang came up with another spectacular performance to pace Yellow with a tournament-high 36 points spiked with eight triples. He was ably backed up by Teloy Abanes with 24 markers.
