Yellow and Green

Lance Armstrong has moved up to a very close second in the overall standings of the Tour de France.

Yellow jersey holder Fabian Cancellara, who is just fractions of a second ahead of Lance owing to his win in the opening time trials that was timed to the thousandth of a second, must be feeling the way the leaders in golf tournaments do when Tiger Woods lurks a stroke or even five behind them.

Although at 37 years old, Lance may be considered quite old to be riding in the TdF, his experience more than makes up for what he probably lacks in strength compared to the much younger riders.

I know of many people who are cheering for Lance even if they haven’t been on a bike for a long time. 

Well, you don’t even need to know how to bike to be a big fan of Lance. An eighth TdF title can come, but let’s just not get too excited this early, this is a long race and so many things can still happen in the many stages to come.

But to see Lance hold the yellow jersey again will be like seeing him win the title once more.

With a little over a month to go before the Ateneo-La Salle Golf Classic in Cebu, the name of the tournament changes depending on who the host is, Team La Salle is busy getting its players to sign up for the event.

The email group of One La Salle Cebu Alumni Association is trying to beat Ateneo once again after allowing the Blue Eagles to reclaim the title last year.

Ateneo won it five times in a row before La Salle broke the streak. 

If you are a graduate of a La Salle school, including Andres Soriano Memorial College (School) in Toledo City, or spent at least a couple of school years in a La Salle school, you are qualified to play.

The tournament is set on August 13 at the Cebu Country Club, please free up your schedule for this one.

Milestone: A very happy birthday greetings to my aunt Eva Frasco Quiñones, who turns a year older today.

Auntie Eva is one person we can always run to since I was very young for math assignments, formal themes and anything about our lessons in school. She has always been a very supportive aunt and now grand aunt to her growing list of apos.
