CEBU, Philippines - The Pañeros led by playmaker Jun Felicitas defeated Mt. Zion, 77-69, yesterday at the start of the 3rd Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym along Escario Street, this city.
Felicitas, Barry Buris, Dennis Aliño and Nilo Balorio provided the offensive spark even though they were ahead by just two points at halftime, 42-20.
Bursi paced the Pañeros with 12 points while Felicitas, Aliño and Balorio each scored 10 points each.
The tandem of Ferdie Riveral and Art Flores topped Mt. Zion with 14 points apiece.
In the other games, the Super Idols of playing coach Bong Pepito pulled off an 87-53 rout of Opascor Eagles, the Casino Rubbing Alcohol subdued the Pecandela Law Firm, 56-52, while the YLAC squad demolished the Rama Boys, 69-45.
Benjo Santiago topscored for the Super Idols with a game-high 27 points followed by Ramsey Quijano with 10 markers.
Dave Godornes and Al Lagahit connived for 23 points for Opascor.
Richard Bauzon, on the other hand, netted 16 points for Casino, while Val Lingutan charted 22 markers for YLAC. – GGM (THE FREEMAN)
