Cebu's Surban bags silver medal in Marawi cycling event

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano Nino Surban settled for a silver medal in the Lanao del Sur 50th Founding Anniversary Circumferential Cycling Competition in Marawi City the other day.

Surban’s energy was eventually consumed by the tactics of his veteran rivals.

Nilo Estayo, a road racer-turned mountainbiker, outsmarted Surban to win the title, while Frederick Feliciano wound up third.

Surban, who is supported by the Danao City Sports Commission, tried to break away in the 120-kilometer action around Lake Lanao, but had no way out with his opponents fully guarding him.
