16th business in Golf King, Ong, IPI win top honors

CEBU, Philippines – Regan King and Joel Ong won the top individual honors in Thursday’s 16th Business in Golf Tournament played at the Cebu Country Club while Team IPI ruled the team event of the 18-hole competition.

King was named as the golfer of the year, the award which goes to the company representative or alternate to the Cebu of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who will score the most points.

He made 40 points in the full-handicap Modified Stableford scoring event.

Ong was the winner of the overall lowest net or most points for the event as he made seven-under-par 43 points.

IPI scored a total of 152 points in the four-to-play, four-to-count format. The champion team was composed of Kim Jae Eun with 41 points, Cristino Lim 39, Clifford Celdran 38 and Edwardson Chiu 34.

Second place went to Bad Boys 3 after prevailing in the countback over Profood 2. Both teams scored 149 points.

Bad Boys 3 was manned by Ernesto Siguan with 41, his wife Joy with 40 and brothers Jacinto Limyutian 35 and Robert Limyutiong 33.

Profood 2 was composed of Gerry Gollon 39, Arnel Go 38, Andrew Si 37 and Richard Lim 35.

The best in uniform award went to Cebuano Headway 1 composed of Peter Liao, Anson Wu, Jack Chiu and Eric Sendrijas.

The tournament is part of the Cebu Business Month celebration. This year’s chairman was Jose Soberano of Cebu Landmaster. – THE FREEMAN
